Crash those JC orientations!
So this being the first week of school/work/of the year, I’m sure many many things happened throughout. I was down with a stomach flu and that’s… so much for a “Happy New Year!”
My sister will be sitting for her PSLE and she’s stil prancing around in school. She has a tendency to go home late now. In other words, she’s starting to know what lepak is all about.
Her way to lepak is “to sit in the library, just talk-talk lor and go home at 530pm.” We’ve all been there, done that. But now as I sat in the throne of a elder person, I can certainly feel the constant worries which my Mum must have felt about me previously.
She can do whatever she wants (legally of course) but I just have one main aim as she grows up – not to let her be a minah.
Coming from a polytechnic background, and worse still in the midst of ITP, I nearly forgot the “first-3-months” Junior College (JC) people. They should be running around either all over the island or their own schools playing games and cheering each other up right?
What a stark contrast it is right after this orientation period.
Unless of course you choose to skip lecture, and eventually school altogether, and only wanna see cute JC guys and girls in school uniform. Like many of my friends who didn’t wanna work and just wanted something to occupy their time while they wait for their polytechnic admission.
Frankly speaking, I can’t resist looking at them either. That’s the only reason why I’d ditch home clothes for school uniforms. Err and those sentences apply to girls only.
But the root of all evil of joining the “first-3-months” is to still enjoy student rates on your public transportation. Heheheh right, right right?
I know ’cause I felt the pinch.

I didn’t go for ‘first-three-months’ because it’s a waste of time and money. I started working so I don’t know how it’s like to study and play in a JC. How about you?
I worked too and didn’t go for “first-3-months” ’cause I can’t make it. haha but I heard in JC it’s either you chiong or you die. Stereotype lah but then again, that’s what I am hearing.
My first 3 months days were so memorable.. That’s because i got to know awesome people and KICK-ASS CLASSMATES! all of us were, like, so wacky ah!
Oh, you know what I used to do.. Or rather what the girls in my 1st 3 months sch used to do? we always swoon and gush over the council president when he walks past or when we see him. He’s so hot. I even went to council board to take a photo of his photo in school blazer.. Hotness. Crazy or what, the action?
But now when i think back again, he’s not really that hot leh. HAHHA.
Things that young mindless girls do. HEHEHE.
HAHAHAHA! Typical sia! Some top ranking person in school and either he/she is hot or cute or good-looking. How come you realized he’s not hot anymore? He lost his sizzle? heheh
I’m glad you had a goody-goody good “first-3-months” man!
Ah…my 1st-3-mths in JC…i had good memories! Made good frens then & it ws much more gerek then de subsequent JC duration (yeah i stayed on). But during my orientation we didnt ‘go around de island’. We just did de activities in our school compound, or , furthest, de nearby neighbourhood….
first 3 months are always the best. the rest they say… is history. haha i always fine that amusing because students create their own history after that. pass, fail, repeat… there’s so many stories that I’ve heard. but that’s the story of orientations I guess!
yeah!! They really go thru alot right in just this 3 months but wont they get separated after that period? The bonding session did annoy an aunty I saw. “wah so noisy, go school study, here they jump n shout like monkeys!”
Wahaahaa!!
serious? orientation period is always like that. play and play and play. But i think that’s the only time they can play. After that, mug and mug and mug.
after 3 years in polytechnic, you start to miss girls in school uniform.
I think after 2 years in NS, i’ll start to miss girls. uniform or no uniform, I’ll take. But no uniform better.
i suppose i agree with you. my friends say 1st 3 months’ orientation much better than the later one. and of course, they make more friends! as compared to me who only entered jc after results were out, they were much more experienced and have more friends than me. not that im ungrateful for the friends that i make and have right now, but somehow, you may feel inferior. that was how i felt at first…
but eventually, everybody ends up together! everybody makes it far…
aiyahh.. i thought you didn’t manage to cope with your new environment or something. i’m glad everything turn out well for you. you are in university now anyway so I hope it’s ay-okay done there!
ur commentary is super-cute. ^-~ i’m not in singapore so some of it goes a mite over my head but ur language and word selections are awesome. i look forward to reading more later.
haha! I must say your comments shocked me! My writing is nowhere near awesome. I still got many things to be polished. but do drop by soon!
