Finisher of 10km race!
When was the last time you completed 10km at one go?
I never did but somehow managed to do so for the first yesterday despite taking a few hours to complete the whole route. Plus some pit stops here and there. And a bus ride to save time… and my aching legs. Alright that’s not really at one go already, is it?
Faddy wanted to take some photos for this blogging competition that she’s gonna join and the kaypoh me decided to tag along. I really had nothing to do after being forced to go to school early in the morning just to meet my club’s teacher-in-charge. What a bummer.
I dragged Haikal came by too as his class ended at noon. Lucky bastard. He starts at 10am and ends at 12pm! 2 hours of school for one day. How I wish I had his timetable…
Anyway the trekking started at Chinatown area as Faddy gotta take pictures of temples and mosques. The place certainly brings back memories for me. No I wasn’t born there but Poly Forum had mini-competition ala Amazing Race which I participated in last year.
And this year, they are having the same forum but on board a Star Cruise ship. All for the same subsidised fee of $50. Ouch man, that hurts me real bad.
And not forgetting the field trip to there with Suzanne Jung and the whole class for Feature Writing? Damn now I only get to see her on TV. If I wake up early that is.

After Chinatown was ‘conquered’, it was an up-and-down walk through Fort Canning Park before we reached the Dhoby Ghaut area. Alamak… the place was Memories: Part 2 for me. Bad memories that is. Flashback all the way to the secondary school days were puppy and monkey love exists but the worst was unrequited love.
While I was on the receiving end of the love, I was also on the giving end of the unrequited part at the same time. Hahahah!

The initial plan was to check out the MindCafe, have some chit-chat session and try out the games there. $2 per hour per person leh! Good deal right? They even have ladies night on Tuesdays where like clubs – ladies need not pay – except there’s no free flow of (hard) drinks.
But there was this ambiguous feeling when a notice was posted on its entrance door : “… Please come back again later at 6pm…” Time check? 3pm. Oh man, forget it!
The weather was so freaking hot, the day was still young and we’ve got nowhere to rest. And the National Museum came to our rescue. What a way to be introduced the arts. Memories: Part 3 – It was the CDA field trip to the Museum where nobody in class knew about me and Babe except for Yingying.

Then came the most excruciating part of the trek – the long walk from Dhoby Ghaut area all the way to the Botanic Gardens. A long march I reckon. A cup of Ah Pek’s ice-cream did little to soothe our weary legs and the sweltering heat was just wah lau eh!

Just look at how happy those 2 buggers are when we reached the place. Snap snap here and there and we’re off to Taman Serasi to fill our empty stomachs. It’s a food court in the Gardens by the way, which may sound familiar to some of you. Makan Places: Lost and Found has covered Taman Serasi as one of the better food places in Singapore.
Memories: Part 4 – I was with Babe here just the day before!
I was so tempted to try their Murtabak Meat/ Crab Combo but at $6 per serving, I settled for Maggie Goreng instead. Reina said the crabs there are fantabulous too. Hahah I can see why with their array of crabs from cheese to black pepper. Not halal lah! Cannot try…
Night fell and it was the final part of Faddy’s picture adventure with a snip snaps of highways and speeding cars. My mouth was savouring for $1 ice cream but ever since we stepped out of Taman Serasi and right up till when we were at Esplanade, there were no roadside Ah Pek’s selling ice creams in sight. Ah Pek ah! When we need you, you are not here… when we don’t, there will be many of you ringing the same bell!

The stroll ended at the waters in front of Raffles Place which was the final destination of our trekking. Like finally man! Faddy’s interpretation of the game Heart Attack was hilarious ah. Winner must do an action which others must follow and apparently I’m the slowest eh? Never mind, never mind…
Weren’t the Sentosa girls together with Haikal and I here for a game of cards too? That was when all my cengkung vogue started off. Dammit. Haha! That makes it Memories: Part 5 for me.

So that was it for the day. A leg-aching, literally warm and hot story which stretched for 10 km in all. 2 strangers met, me not included so you know who, and it went pretty well, doesn’t it? :p
And I seriously thought I’ve lost at least 2kg on that day. No joke.

I thought I’m supposed to focus on the 10km part? But incidentally it became a walk down memory lane for me too…
Thanks for the memories guys (and girls)!
